Biography of George Bogle of Daldowie
George Bogle of Daldowie (1700-1784) was an alumnus of the University who was Rector from 1738 to 1740, 1743-1746 and 1748 to 1750.
Bogle matriculated to study at the University in 1723. Two years later he embarked on an extended journey around Europe, studying for two years at the University of Leiden. The son of a merchant, he became involved predominantly in the sugar and tobacco trade.
