Biography of Peter Kennedy
Peter Kennedy holds the Burton Chair of Neurology. He is Head of the Division of Clinical Neurosciences. He is also an Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.
Professor Kennedy trained in Neurology at the National Hospital, Queen Square, in London and obtained a PhD at University College London for research into the immunopathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis. He has since focused his research on viral infections of the nervous system and holds MD and DSc degrees in this area. He is also a world leader in the study of African Sleeping Sickness.
Professor Kennedy appeared in the New Years Honours list receiving a CBE for his services to clinical science.
