Biography of Robin Jenkins
Robin Jenkins won a scholarship to study Literature at the University of Glasgow and he graduated in 1935.
He was born John Robin Jenkins in Flemington, near Cambuslang, and won a bursary to attend (the former) Hamilton Academy before he rose to the University of Glasgow.
Robin Jenkins published thirty novels in his life-time with the most celebrated being 'The Cone Gatherers'. He was awarded an OBE in 1999 and received the Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun prize from the Saltire Society in 2003 for his achievements in writing. He has an eponymous literary award established after him.
