Biography of George Adrain
Mr George ADRAIN was awarded the honorary degree of DUniv on 18 June 2014 in recognition of his sporting achievements.
Adrain won Lawn Bowls Pairs gold at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh with Grant Knox.
He won gold again in Auckland in 1990, this time in the Four with Willie Wood, Ian Bruce and Denis Love.
Adrain first tasted international bowls success in 1984, when he won the World Championships Pairs, curiously, representing the USA when one of their team fell ill and he was permitted to serve substitute. In 1996 he won further international titles for Scotland, becoming World Champion in the Triples and winning the Leonard Cup with his teammates.
