Biography of John Robert Hume
John Hume was an alumnus of the University of Glasgow who was present at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
Hume studied under John Young in 1790. His entry in Addison's Matriculations of the University of Glasgow (Glasgow, 1913) reads:
JOHANNES HUME fil. n Max. Josephi Medici in Vico de Hamilton et Comit. de Lanark. Otherwise John Robert Hume. MD St Andrews, 1816. FRCP Ed 1816. CB 1850. Hospital Mate in the Army 1798. Retired on full pay as an Inspector of Army Hospitals, 1821. Had the Waterloo Medal. Died 1st March, 1857.
