Biography of Stanley Kaye
Stanley Kaye (1948- ) was Professor of Medical Oncology at the University from 1985 to 2000. He was instrumental in setting up an integrated cancer treatment centre in the Beatson Oncology Centre at the Western Infirmary.
After studying at the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in London, graduating BSc in 1969, Kaye graduated MB BS (1972) and MD (1982) from the University of London. He was Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology at the University of Glasgow from 1980 until his appointment to the Chair in 1985.
Kaye is a recognised authority on drug resistance and ovarian cancer and he instigated major new drug trials at the University. He left Glasgow in 2000 to accept the Cancer Research UK Chair of Medical Oncology at The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden Hospital.
