Biography of Vivian Ernest Chang
Vivian Ernest Chang, Matriculation Slip 1887
Vivian Ernest Chang graduated MB CM from the University in 1895, making him the first Chinese graduate of the University.
He was born at Shanghai, son of S Tingfan Chang, the Secretary of the Chinese Legation in London.
Chang enrolled at the University in the summer session of 1887 to study Medicine. Chang studied over the course of eight years at the University, from 1887-1892, and the summer session of 1894.
He practiced as a doctor at Leeds, Yorkshire, becoming Member of the Executive Committee of the Leeds Division. He died in 1930.
