Modern Languages (William Jacks Chair)


The William Jacks Chair in Modern Languages is named for Sir William Jacks. A part-time lectureship had been instituted in 1887 and became a full-time appointment in 1919. The chair was founded in 1919 and endowed by Jacks, James Clason-Harvie and others.
